Licensed Clinical Psychologist

A little about my background...

I am a clinical psychologist who provides individual, group, and family therapy services for adolescents, adults and families. I've been working in the mental health field for 17 years.  I received my doctorate in clinical psychology from the American School of Professional Psychology at Argosy University, Washington, D.C., and I completed my pre-doctoral internship at Children’s Hospital Colorado. I have worked and trained in a variety of settings, including inpatient psychiatric units at Seattle Children’s Hospital, Children’s National Medical Center in Washington D.C., Western State Hospital in Petersburg, Virginia, private practice, community mental health centers, and Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington D.C.

Prior to working in mental health, I had many jobs and traveled often. I spent eight summers in Alaska, as a fisherman, tour guide, and manager of a tour company.  I taught computer classes on cruise ships in the South Pacific, and spent over two years installing computer networks that had been granted to libraries in underprivileged communities across the United States.  I've been lucky enough to see 46 states and 27 countries (so far).  I have experienced co-directing a musical, driving a Popsicle-Joe truck, selling vacuums door-to-door, and being vice-president of my undergraduate student association.

I find the world to be endlessly fascinating, especially in the way humans treat each other.  I am passionate about learning how social power works; from the smallest families, to the political arena.  I believe that personal development can be a lifelong effort.  I also believe that change is possible for anyone who is ready to change.  My favorite quote is by Harry Truman:

"We can never tell what is in store for us."
