Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy for adolescents and adults.
Areas that I have experience treating include anxiety, depression, ADHD, behavioral problems, phobias, grief and loss, and trauma. I have extensive training in helping individuals and families improve communication skills. I also enjoy working with parents to create supportive behavior plans for their children.
I specialize in working with adolescents struggling with self-defeating behaviors and difficulty with mood. In addition, I have experience and training in working with eating disorders and issues related to food and body image, utilizing evidence-based treatments.
My approach is based on a cognitive-behavioral perspective, but I draw upon other approaches to collaboratively address the issues that concern clients. I tend to incorporate elements of dialectical-behavioral therapy (DBT), motivational interviewing, and person-centered traditions to my work. The focus in therapy will be on increasing awareness and building skills, but with the understanding that matters such as love, belongingness, and acceptance, to name a few, are fundamental aspects of life as well.
